New to waxing – but ready to dive in? We love a good at-home wax kit. As waxing experts, we have high expectations for what we put on our skin!
We tried 7 at-home waxing kits to see what works best for an amazing at-home wax. Factors that we took into consideration include the overall usability (how easy was the application?), amount of uses, aftercare products, and a fragrance score. We chose to test wax strips since they are great for beginners! Read our honest ratings below before your next at-home wax!
Gigi Wax Strips are priced fairly and have a good amount of wax on them. They separated easily, but we found the application more difficult. The placement of the wax near the edge of each strip made it difficult for us to grab and pull off. We also noticed a strong chemical scent in the aftercare lotion. While they did the job, we hoped for a more high-end experience. We rate Gigi Wax Strips an 8/10.
Pros
- Worked well on baby hairs
- Ingredients are relatively clean
- Strips separated easily
Cons
- Hard to zip off as the wax was close to the edge of the strip
- Aftercare lotion had a strong chemical scent
Fragrance
- Low fragrance in strips; high fragrance in lotion
Score
Usability 8/10
Clean & Easy $10.75 USD
Clean & Easy Wax Strips are cost-effective. Low fragrance and relatively clean ingredients made a good first impression. They were easy to separate but difficult to remove because of the wax being too close to the edge. The strips only worked for single use and did not pick up missed stray hair. The kit did not come with any aftercare, and we had to purchase the moisturizer separately. We rate Clean & Easy Wax Strips a 7/10.
Pros
- Worked well on fine hair
- The ingredients were relatively clean
- Strips separated easily
Cons
- Wax was close to the edge of the strip; hard to zip off
- The not as effective second use
Fragrance
- Low fragrance

Usability 7/10
Veet USD 10.79
Veet Wax Strips are efficient. We did not have to rub the strips to warm them, which was a plus. They were easy to separate, but only one edge had a handle – so if placed incorrectly, the user is left with very little room to pull off the strip. The kit came with only two aftercare wipes that had a strong chemical fragrance. We also found the wipes felt rough on our freshly waxed skin. We rate Clean & Easy Wax Strips a 7.5/10.
Pros
- No rubbing/warming
- Easy to separate
Cons
- Only one side had a handle; could apply the wrong way
- Not a lot of wipes
- Wax was too close to the edge of the strip; hard to zip off
Fragrance
- High fragrance in strips and aftercare wipes

Usability 7.5/10
Neat & Easy $2.31 USD
Neat & Easy Wax Strips are ideal if you’re waxing on a budget. The strips did their job and removed 80% of the hair. The 20% left behind were baby hairs that usually require wax with more oomph to remove. We noted little to no scent on the wax strips themselves. However, the aftercare wipes were very heavily fragranced which could be overwhelming to those with scent sensitivity. We rate Clean & Easy Wax Strips a 7.5/10.
Pros
- Good price
- Good removal of hair – but did not get everything
Cons
- Only grabbed 80% of the hair
- Not much room to grab a strip
Fragrance
- Light to none for strips – heavy fragrance in wipes
Score
Usability 7.5/10
Nair USD 12.33
Nair Wax Strips are effective and removed even difficult baby hairs – however, some hair was left broken after application. At first, we were impressed by the amount of wax provided, which gave us multiple uses. There was also enough room on each strip for the user to pull off. However, once we removed the strip, we noticed left behind hair that had snapped off. We were not super impressed by the heavy fragrance in the aftercare wipes either – and only four were included in the box. We rate Nair Wax Strips an 8/10.
Pros
- Multiple uses from one strip
- No rubbing or warming required
- A good amount of room left on the strip for zipping off
- Soft wax made separating easier
Cons
- Were some broken hairs
- Not the best wipes and only four included
Fragrance
– Heavy fragrance in strips and wipes

Glee USD 8.97
Glee Wax Strips are completely vegan and priced very well. Good handles on both sides of the strip meant they were sturdy enough to zip off. The wax wasn’t too close to the edge either and the strips were the largest we tested. However, the strips did seem stuck together when we initially separated them. While we love the idea of soft gel wax, there was not as much available on the strip, and we could only do one application. The strips were heavily scented. The kit came with solid six aftercare wipes, which were soft and oily. We rate Glee Wax Strips a 9/10.
Pros
- Oily wipes and a lot
- Good handles on both sides of the strip
- Soft gel wax
- Completely vegan
- Biggest strips tested
Cons
- Strips seem stuck together at first
- Not as much wax on the strip
Fragrance
Heavily scented

Parissa USD 14.99
Parissa Wax Strips are plastic-free, biodegradable, and made of 100% natural ingredients. The strips were easy to separate and super effective on our fine baby hair. There was room for us to grab each strip and zip off smoothly. We were impressed by the clean finish and that we could get multiple applications from one strip. The kit comes with a generous vial of aftercare oil to remove any sticky residue. The strips themselves were not fragranced. However, the aftercare oil did have a faint herbal scent that was quite calming. With all of these pluses and skin-friendly benefits, we rate Parissa Wax Strips a 9.5/10.
Pros
- Plastic-free strips & biodegradable
- Good strip for zipping off
- Grabbed baby hairs
- Easy to separate
- Aftercare oil included
Cons
- Can leave a sticky residue
Fragrance
- No scent for strips, a low scent for oil
